Synopsis:
The Little Sisters of Hoboken are putting on a show to raise some money.  Their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, served some vichyssoise soup and it killed 52 members of their order.  They had enough money to bury 48 of them, so they are raising funds to bury the other four.  Right now, they have the last four sisters in the freezer.  Sister Amnesia, who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head, remembers who she is and that she was on her way to Nashville to become a country star, but also that she had won the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes.  So, now they have enough money to bury the last four dead sisters.

Need a laugh? Come and watch the hilarious Little Sisters of Hoboken raise funds to bury their fellow Sisters, victims of the "great vichyssoise massacre," who are awaiting their heavenly reward in the convent freezer!

The program begins with a prayer and opening song, followed by a brief history describing their difficult transition from the leper colony to Hoboken. Sister Mary Leo describes a typical mourning at the convent after which she is admonished by Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of Novices, to be humble. Reverend Mother is confronted by Sister Robert Anne with the fact that she is unhappy Playing Second Fiddle as the understudy and wants a solo of her own. Reverend Mother insists that her decisions are final and brings out Sister Mary Amnesia to tell the audience what it's like to be a nun. To everyone's surprise, Sister Amnesia has brought her puppet, Sister Mary Annette to help out. Reverend Mother is shocked at their behavior and asks that the spotlight be turned up as she takes center stage herself. Unexpectedly, flowers arrive from the Ladies' Alter Society. The fragrance of the lilacs brings back memories and Sister Leo has an idea this could help sister Amnesia. When it doesn't work, Sister Mary Hubert leads everyone in a rousing tap number. Reverend Mother gets a little carried away and they decide to take a break. Finally Reverend Mother allows Sister Robert Anne to sing a solo explaining that she just wants to be a star. Sister Amnesia is then left alone on stage to tell a story. When she is telling the audience that she could've gone to Nashville and become a country singer she suddenly remembers who she is -- Sister Mary Paul! Reverend Mother recalls that Sister Mary Paul was the name of the nun who won the Publishers' Clearing House Sweepstakes and no one could ever find her. There is much joy as the sisters realize they have all the money they need. Sister Hubert gives some last minute advice on becoming a saint. And then the finale is sung leaving no doubt that everyone will live happily ever after!

The Sisters and the Reverend Mother entertain with a variety of songs featuring "Turn Up The Spotlight," "Holier Than Thou," "I Just Wanna Be a Star," and "I Could've Gone to Nashville." This is a show you will never forget.

Meet the Nuns

Sister Mary Regina, the beloved Mother Superior of the Little Sisters of Hoboken, headed the pioneering group of religious who established the leper colony in the Mediterranean and later returned to Hoboken as Superior General of the Order. After Nunsense, Mother Superior has no desire to continue in the theater. Prior to taking her vows, Sister Mary Regina was Vern Hanson, President of the Sixth Street Theater, and Manager of the Baymont Inn & Suites.

Sister Mary Hubert entered the Little Sisters of Hoboken upon graduation from Precious Blood Elementary School. Sister serves as Mistress of Novices, training new recruits. Her position is not unlike a drill sergeant although more gentle-but firm. Sister is a little off the wall at times but attributes this to being trampled by a camel in a nativity pageant at the leper colony. She stands on Rev Mothers right, but often gets on her nerves. Sister Mary Hubert is the former Dan Treend, singer, actor, and real estate professional.

Sister Mary Robert Anne was the child of a disadvantaged Brooklyn Family. After dropping out of Verna's Cashier School, Reverend Mother took pity on poor little Don Sauer and accepted her into the Little Sisters of Hoboken where she became Sister Robert Anne. Today she is one of the most popular sisters with the New Jersey school kids because she speaks their language even though Reverend Mother regrets that much of the language is unprintable. Prior to cashier school Don was also a writer and became a member of the Sixth Street Theater Board of Directors and has appeared in many Sixth Street Theater productions.

Sister Mary Amnesia is truly a lost soul. She arrived at the convent in her habit without a clue to her identity. She could only recall that a crucifix fell on her head. However, it has been said that she resembles pastor Ken Bartle of the American Lutheran Church in Kellogg, only a lot more clean-shaven. It is also rumored that Amnesia wanted to be a professional singer some day and she has at least been able to live out that part of her life through her work here at the convent. A very low alto, Amnesia said that maybe song will some day provide her with a link to her former life before joining the Little Sisters of Hoboken.

Sister Mary Leo came to the order from an Illinois farm.  She entered the convent to dedicate her life to God through the dance.  Many people think she took her name from the famous "leotard," but that is not true.  She is named after her Uncle Leo, a notorious Chicago gangster.  Sister thought that by taking his name, the Lord would go easy on him.  She is a novice with much to learn.  Prior to joining the order, she was known as Paul Roberts and was director of the Silver Valley Alternative School and still serves as a member of the Sixth Street Theater Board of Directors and  has appeared in numerous productions.

The Mt. St. Helens Band

Sister Joy Persoon is the convent's musical director and has called this show the most challenging task that the Lord has ever presented to her.  When not tickling the ivories on the convent keyboard, Sister Joy directs the vocal musical department in the local schools.

Brother Michael Mitchell is making his first appearance with the Mount St. Helens Band.  In his other life, Brother Michael is a student and plays the drums for the Kellogg High School pep band.
